The basic package for newborns is the perfect way into the wonderful world of wool nappies. The package is designed in such a way that the absorbing inserts must be washed about every two to three days. The wool covers can dry out after use and must be washed once they are dirty or start to smell.

The package includes three wool covers of your choice, 32 absorbing inserts, lanolin and green olive soap flakes for greasing, wool washing soap for cleaning, and nappy fasteners that are used to hold the muslin nappies together. You receive various absorbing inserts that you can use from the beginning till the end of the nappy time, not only in the first months. The basic package gives you a great opportunity to also test the different absorbing inserts and to discover the most suitable ones that fits your baby’s needs.

 

Materials

The covers are either lined with knitted wool or wool fleece made of 100% organic merino wool. The outer fabric is made from stretchable (organic) cotton jersey. Stretchable nappies tend to fit longer than nappies made from non-stretchy fabrics (e.g., pure cotton) and this is important to us, especially for the little ones who are growing fast.

 

Beginner’s Guide from “Die Stoffwickler“

In addition, you receive the Beginner’s Guide from “Die Stoffwickler” on how to get started with cloth nappies, with special emphasis on wool. Spoken language is German but you can select the subtitle in your mothertongue. The course includes twelve videos and a course book. The guide is worth € 49 but you will get it for free as part of this package.

Description

Wool cover

  • For information on how to wash and grease the wool cover please click here.
  • Before first use, the wool cover must be greased in a lanolin bath.
  • Wash at low speed in the wool wash program of the washing machine or by hand.
  • No tumble dryer. No bleaching. No ironing.
  • Lining: 100% organic merino wool

Absorbing inserts

  • The absorbing inserts have to be washed a couple of times to reach full absorption capacity
  • To speed up the process you can let them soak in water overnight before first use
  • Wash at maximum 60°C  and tumble at low temperature
  • Cotton folding insert and liner: 100% organic cotton
  • Muslin nappy: 100% organic cotton
  • Hemp/cotton folding insert and booster: 55% hemp, 45% organic cotton

Lanolin

The wool cover is made of organic merino wool and stretchable (organic) cotton jersey, and must be combined with absorbing inserts to form a complete nappy. As lining you can choose between knitted wool, wool fleece, and fine boiled wool made of 100% organic merino wool. The wool must be greased with wool fat (lanolin) before first use to get water-repellent.   Size guide The wool cover is available in four sizes: Size 1 (ca. 4-7 kg), size 2 (ca. 7-12 kg) and size 3 (ca. 11-16 kg), and as a one-size nappy (ca. 7-16 kg). Please note that the weight information of the sizes can only be an estimate, as the fit depends on the stature of the respective child. The one-size nappy corresponds to size 3 with reduction buttons and can be, at least at the beginning, too large for very slim children. The type of outer fabric also makes a difference on how the nappy fit. Wool covers made from stretchable fabric tend to adapt better to the child’s stature and are suitable for stronger children. According to experience, they also fit longer than covers made from non-stretchy fabrics (e.g., pure cotton) and this is especially important for newborns. Non-stretchy covers on the other hand are more likely to retain their shape and are recommended for slim children.
