Wool washing soap – Natural (100g)
Wool washing soap contains a high amount of lanolin and is perfect for washing wool covers, because it gently cleans the wool while simultaneously greases it. It is further certified according to the EU Cosmetics Regulation and can therefore be used for skin care. It contains natural and nourishing ingredients such as lanolin and coconut oil.
Our lanolin soap is manufactured at Werfzeep, an artisan organic soap-making company in Utrecht. They process plants into extracts, hydrolates and essential oils, directly from forest and herb gardens. The small team produces all soap by hand at a fine but small location close to the old canals of Utrecht.
How to use Jovoh wool washing soap?
Rub the soap gently in warm water by hand until the water becomes milky. The more soap you dissolve, the richer the solution becomes. You can treat dirty areas of the wool cover also directly. Therefore, rub the soap gently on the wool and clean it accordingly. The soap is intended for cleaning and re-greasing of already greased wool covers. However, for the initial treatment of new wool covers an emulsion made from pure lanolin is recommended. Olive laundry soap | 2nd choice
Important: Unfortunately, the company Patounis sent me soap that I cannot sell as A-grade goods with a clear conscience. The soap bars are slightly damaged, which means that e.g., small pieces of the edges broke off. Some of the bars are broken in the middle. And since Patounis refuses to take the goods back, you can get them at a fabulously favourable price. This way I'm trying to cover the costs of the purchase. These are hence not perfect soap bars. The functionality of the soap remains unaffected.
The Patounis soaps have been hand-boiled in the family business on Corfu, Greece according to an old tradition since 1850. This curd soap is one of the few that does not contain palm oil. It mainly consists of olive pomace oil, which is obtained from olive pits, peel and pulp remains, combined with sodium hydroxide, water and salt. Compared to green olive soap the olive curd soap contains a higher amount of washing soda (0.1%) and therefore has a higher pH value of ~8.
The soap is ideal for washing wool covers, baby clothes, underwear, and difficult stains. It can also be used to wash fruits and vegetables. Finely grated it can be used in the washing machine.
The soap bars are delivered by the manufacturer unpacked and plastic-free in a cardboard box. Sodium carbonate (washing soda) is used as a separating agent so that the individual bars of soap do not stick together. This is visible on the soap bars as a white powder and can easily be washed off.

Lanolin
Lanolin is a natural wool wax that is used to grease wool covers. The 100% pure anhydrous lanolin comes from European sheep farms and is certified to be mulesing-free. Mulesing is a painful method to protect sheep against fly infestation, which is not applied in organic farming.
How to grease a wool cover:
Take a cup of hot water, dissolve a bit of lanolin (approx. 1/2 tea spoon per cover) and add a mild soap or green olive soap flakes to it. A milky emulsion is formed. If there are still greasy eyes on the surface, add a little more soap until they disappear.
Give the emulsion into a larger bowl with hot water. Put the wool cover with the wool facing down into the water and let it bath for at least three hours. You can add several covers on top of each other. The wool cover should be completely under water. If necessary put a small plate as weight on top of it. Let it bath for at least three hours. Afterwards, take it out and rinse it with water that has the same temperature as the water in the bowl.
Fold the cover in a towel and gently press the water out. Do not wring. Dry the cover flat lying on a laundry rack. New wool covers must be greased 1-2 times before they get water-repellent.
