The Starter Package is the perfect introduction into the wonderful world of wool nappies. It includes one wool cover of your choice, solid lanolin for greasing, a sample bag of green olive soap flakes, a special wool washing soap (lanolin soap) and six absorbing inserts.   • You can use a nappy bag (also called wet bag) to store the used absorbent inserts. The bag is made from recycled PUL and can simply be hung next to the changing table.
  • To make nappy changing even more sustainable, we have soft baby wipes at Jovoh, which, in combination with a water/oil mixture, provide the perfect option for gentle baby care.

Description

Possible combination of absorbing inserts

When combining absorbent inserts, there is a rule of thumb that must be observed: Fast-absorbing cotton is always in contact with the child, with hemp inserts placed underneath. Hemp absorbs more moisture than cotton, but relatively slowly.

  • The cotton flat is tripled along the long side and directly placed in the wool cover. Make sure that the flat reaches the edge of the cover, but not beyond. Otherwise leakage is likely to occur.
  • For more absorbency, the cotton flat is combined with a hemp booster: along the entire length (booster – long) or selectively (booster – short) where the absorption needs to be greatest. For boys more at the front and for girls in the middle of the cover.
  • The hemp flat is placed directly in the wool cover. Fold the flat along the long side for covers of size 1 and along the short side for covers of sizes 2 and 3. You must combine it with a cotton liner or muslin nappy. Pure cotton quickly absorbs moisture and directs it downwards where it is stored in the hemp flat.

  • For information on washing and greasing the wool covers, click here.
  • The wool covers must be greased in a lanolin bath before first use.
  • Wash at low speed on a wool programme in the washing machine or by hand.

Absorbing inserts

  • The absorbing inserts need to be washed several times to achieve full absorption.
    To speed up the process, soak them in water overnight before using them for the first time.
    Afterward, wash them at a maximum of 60°C and tumble dry at a low temperature.
